NetFlix Update

1. Be Kind Rewind (Dir. Michel Gondry)

Why Did You Pick That?

I love Gondry’s films and the preview for the film was awesome.

2. The Station Agent (Dir. Thomas McCarthy)

Why Did You Pick That?

I’ve heard about this one for years. I actually picked it up at the library once, but the disc was unplayable. I recently heard about next film, The Visitor, so my interest was piqued again.

3. In Bruges (Dir. Martin McDonagh)

Why Did You Pick That?

Rave reviews from many different sources. It just sounds like something I don’t want to miss.

  1. In Bruges is excellent. I can’t wait to visit it again!

  2. Seen them all. Like them all.

If you love Gondry (and you do), you’re bound to love Be Kind, despite its misgivings. The sweding is truly brilliant stuff.

Don’t get your hopes up tooooo high for In Bruges. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, just not groundbreaking or anything. It’s a fun ride that has a surprising serious/philosophical side. Ralph Fiennes is friggin’ brilliant, though.

  3. Another thing about Fiennes in this…. he doesn’t seem to blink ONCE in this role. Pretty terrifying when he delivers these long, threatening dialogues where he just stares. Great performance.

  4. As much as I loved the trailer, I can’t simply recommend “In Bruges.” The trailers made it look like a hilarious comedy, and it is… for the first thirty minutes. The rest of the film plays as a thriller. I love Be Kind though.
